Corona Open J-Bay!

It’s been just over a month since I returned from South Africa. I needed time to reflect on how much this trip meant to me, how much I learned about myself and all the new  connections I made with amazing people from all over the world.

First of all, I got to live my childhood dream of covering the World Surf League event on behalf of Corona. Sport has always been a huge part of my life and growing up, one of my biggest dreams was to become a journalist following big sporting events… Twelve year old Emilie would be so stoked!

As I reflect on the incredible weeks that I had in South Africa, it was my absolute honor and privilege to work with Corona again and get the chance to connect and interview the world's best surfers. It was only my second time speaking directly into the camera, but I already felt much more comfortable compared to the last event I covered in El Salvador. This experience made me hungry for more, hungry for working more with sports and pursuing my childhood dream of following big sports events.

Secondly, South Africa was a great experience in itself. After the event finished, I had a week to explore the country, the waves and connect with great people. South Africa is absolutely amazing with its perfect waves, beautiful coastline, amazing games parks and stunning nature all around.

For me, the most beautiful thing about South Africa was the people. I can’t believe the friendships I made in such a short amount of time; and the quality of people I met and the conversations I had. It was a very special experience that I had and I can’t wait to go back.
